The Hamilton Jazz Festivals first took place in 1995 but there was an eleven year gap before its rebirth in 2006. This time it was repeated the following year with both events being declared a great success by performers, the enthusiastic audiences and the venue owners, much to the delight of the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and its co-festival organisers. Building on this success but always keen to improve last year's ( 2008) Festival was extended to become the Hamilton Jazz & Blues Festival.
Again everyone involved was delighted with the extended format and the 2009 event sees the event changing its name to The Hamilton Live Music Festival in recognition of the growth of the programme on offer. As in previous years It will be held on the first weekend in September.
IHaving secured Kenny Ball and his Jazz Men as the headline act the organisers have once again ensured an outstanding weekend of music.
Kenny and his band will open the 2009 event with an evening of music in Hamilton's premier music venue the Town House and then at various venues around the town music lovers can select from a varied programme to match their own particular interests.
A full programme is offered on each of the three days of the Festival so whether you wish to come along on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday or hopefully all three days their should be plenty to interest you as some of Scotland's best musicians entertain you at some great venues.
This website will continue to be updated as the acts and venues for this year's festival are confirmed.
