Hamilton Live Music Festival 2009 September 4th - 6th

The 2007 Weekend

The 2007 Hamilton Jazz Festival took place due to the combined efforts of South Lanarkshire Council, Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and The Hamilton Jazz Club.

A programme of events across the weekend offered something for everyone with the event showcasing the variety of venues across Hamilton.

The Headline Act was:- Martin Taylor's Freternity featuring Guy Barker

Award winning guitarist Martin Taylor was joined by a stellar line-up of some of the finest jazz musicians in Europe as part of his new "Freternity" group.

Described as "The Finest British Jazz Guitarist of His Generation" by The Times, Martin Taylor's shows around the world captivate their audiences.

The group included trumpeter Guy Barker who has guested on records by Sting, George Michael and Carmel as well as featuring in the bands of jazz greats like Gil Evans, Clark Terry and Quincy Jones. He also arranged music for Anthony Minghella's film The Talented Mr Ripley - in which he duetted with actor Matt Damon.

Also guesting with Martin Taylor's Fraternity was fast rising Scottish jazz vocalist Alison Burns whose new album "Kissing Bug" was released earlier this year.
